According to a journal published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eating these ultra processed foods containing sugar and preservatives is increasing the risk of heart diseases. Not only this, according to the journal, there is also a possibility of premature death by consuming them. According to a report by Insider, a group of Italian researchers followed the lifestyle of 24,325 men and women aged 35 years and above for 10 years and collected some data. There was a description of the eating habits and health of those men and women.
This report showed that those who consumed ultra-processed foods in greater amounts showed a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke, while those who did not consume processed food had a lower risk. Participants who ate more unhealthy food received at least 15 percent of their daily calories as ultra processed food. On consuming processed food, the body ingests 300 to 1250 calories a day. Thus, people in that category were 58 percent more likely to die of heart disease than their other peers who consumed at least ultra processed food. They were 52 percent more likely to die of stroke or another type of cerebrovascular disease. Earlier studies have also shown that ultra processed foods are more tasty, which makes people feel more hungry. At the same time, there is a possibility of weight gain by eating more food.
